Studying in Vilnius
The capital of Lithuania is an international city and has many historical and cultural influences. It was the European Capital of Culture for 2009. It is also home to numerous music, theatre, dance, and folklore festivals. Vilnius also has a diverse culinary scene. The highlight of the capital of this EU and NATO member state is its old town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site offering much for students and visitors alike to discover.
Lithuania also joined the Eurozone in 2015. Also of interest is the low cost of living in what otherwise meets the high quality of lifestyle found in major international cities. Vilnius offers attractive recreational offerings from sports tournaments to day trips and more extensive travel opportunities. The range of activities is large: students, for example, can join an orchestra, hike the Baltic mountains, or ride along the Baltic Sea. In addition, each faculty organises an event week each year with conferences and competitions. The first week of each semester is an orientation week for international students. The semester is then traditionally launched with a festive parade on 1 September.
