MediStart provides support across Europe: wherever your home is, we can help you. As a leading study abroad placement agency, MediStart is very familiar with the European education system. Most of the students wishing to begin their studies in medicine, dentistry, or veterinary medicine in another country come from Northern and Western Europe. For over 20 years, students have been studying medicine in other European countries; originally in Hungary and the Baltic countries, now increasingly also in Poland, Bulgaria, and Cyprus, all taught in English. Many European countries lack enough spots for all who wish to enrol in programmes and there are more than 15,000 people waiting for a spot, sometimes as many as six years. A real alternative to waiting is to consider enrolling in a foreign university.
The European Union has created uniform standards and guidelines that have made it possible for several hundred students from Scandinavia, Great Britain, and Germany to begin their medical studies at selected universities in other EU countries. The EU Professional Qualifications Directive (2005/36/EC) in conjunction with Directive 2006/100/EC regulates mutual recognition of qualifications earned in the EU. So take advantage of the same opportunities that several hundred others use each year.
General university entrance qualifications in Germany and Austria (the Abitur or Matura) and other international qualifications (IB, A-levels, etc.) entitle you to apply to enrol in medical college. Since the MediStart universities are mostly not interested in your grades from school, there is no need to have them converted. If there are any questions about whether your qualification is sufficient to be admitted, your MediStart adviser will check this for free and without obligation.
MediStart also offers optional hospitality service packages: English speaking local staff where you are studying who will help take care of all registration requirements, moving to your new city, finding accommodation, and getting settled in. Tutors can also be arranged to help you make up any deficiencies. Partnering lawyers working in university law also round out our competent and experienced team ready to solve any issues that might arise with the university administration.
